Pre-Energisation Checks
0 / 9
▼
✓
Verify DC string fuses and DC isolator installed — confirm rating matches string short-circuit current
✓
Check polarity on each string with clamp meter before connecting — confirm positive/negative correct
✓
Verify DC cable sizing — minimum 4mm² for string currents up to 15A
✓
Confirm AC isolator installed within 3m of inverter (AS/NZS 5033 cl. 4.3.4)
✓
Verify MCB and RCD protection at switchboard — MCB rated correctly for inverter AC output
✓
Check inverter mounting clearances — 300mm top, 200mm sides, 100mm bottom
✓
Confirm frame earth connected — green/yellow conductor to earth bar at switchboard
✓
Check all DC terminal torques to Fronius spec — Primo: DC 1.8 Nm, AC 2.2 Nm
✓
Inspect AC and DC wiring for damage, chafing, or unsupported runs
○
First Power-Up
0 / 5
▼
✓
Enable AC isolator at switchboard
✓
Enable DC isolator on inverter — left-side rotary switch, turn clockwise to ON
✓
Wait 60–90 seconds for inverter to initialise — do not touch controls during startup
✓
Confirm status: green LED = starting, flashing green = checking grid, solid green = generating
✓
If fault code appears on display, note the code and check error code table below before proceeding
○
Inverter Configuration
0 / 10
▼
✓
Connect phone/tablet to inverter WiFi — SSID 'FRONIUS_XXXXXXXX' (label on inverter side panel)
✓
Open browser → navigate to 192.168.250.181
✓
Run Setup Wizard: Settings → Setup Wizard
✓
Set country/grid standard: Australia → AS4777.2 — do not select any other standard
✓
Set export limit if required — confirm DNSP requirements before setting (options: 0W, 1.5kW, 5kW, unlimited)
✓
Set correct timezone: Australia/Melbourne, Australia/Brisbane, Australia/Adelaide, etc.
✓
Connect to customer's home/business WiFi: Settings → WLAN → scan and connect
✓
Create or link Solar.web account: Settings → Solar.web → Activate
✓
Change installer password from default 1234 — record new password in commissioning notes
✓
Confirm inverter shows 'Feed-in' or 'Throttled' status on display before leaving
○
Testing & Sign-Off
0 / 8
▼
✓
Verify generation visible on Solar.web or local display — confirm DC voltage and power output reading
✓
Test AC isolator: turn off, confirm inverter shuts down cleanly, re-enable, confirm restart
✓
Record all system details: serial number, string config, array size (kWp), panel tilt and azimuth
✓
Photograph inverter display showing operating mode and generation output
✓
Photograph DC and AC isolators in installed position with labels visible
✓
Photograph meter box showing meter type and DNSP labels
✓
Complete commissioning certificate with all system details and sign
✓
Show customer the Solar.web app and confirm they can see live generation
○
DNSP Notification
0 / 10
▼
✓
Identify customer's DNSP — check meter box for distributor label, or search by postcode on AEMO website
✓
VIC — AusNet: B2B notification required before energisation for systems >5kW. Submit via AusNet portal
✓
VIC — Jemena: submit DNES form or B2B notification via Jemena Connect portal
✓
VIC — United Energy: complete notification form at unitedenergy.com.au/connections
✓
NSW — Ausgrid / Endeavour / Essential Energy: complete connection agreement online at respective portal
✓
QLD — Energex / Ergon: submit B2B service order — small systems (<10kW) auto-approved
✓
SA — SA Power Networks: online notification required for all systems, submit before energisation
✓
WA — Western Power: notification required, submit via Western Power's approved contractor portal
✓
Confirm customer has bi-directional smart meter installed — if not, advise retailer to arrange meter upgrade
✓
Provide customer with copy of commissioning certificate and Solar.web login details
⚠ Error Codes & Fault Fixes
▼
102
DC input voltage too high — string voltage exceeds inverter maximum
›
→ Check Voc calculations at low temperature, reduce string length if required
103
Not enough DC voltage — shading, soiling, or low irradiance
›
→ Check each string with clamp meter; clean panels; wait for better sun angle if early morning
302
AC voltage out of range — grid voltage deviation at inverter terminals
›
→ Measure grid voltage at AC terminals, contact DNSP if persistent and out of AS4777 range
306
AC frequency fault — grid frequency out of tolerance
›
→ Usually transient grid instability — monitor for 15 minutes. If persistent, contact DNSP
401
AC fault — islanding detection triggered or anti-islanding test failed
›
→ Check grid connection quality, ensure AC isolator fully closed and making good contact
416
No AC grid detected — inverter cannot see the grid
›
→ Check AC isolator is fully ON, check MCB at switchboard, check AC cable connections at inverter
501
Inverter overtemperature — insufficient ventilation or ambient too high
›
→ Check mounting clearances are met; ensure inverter not in direct sun with no airflow; check fins are clear
509
Hardware fault — internal component failure
›
→ Contact Fronius technical support: 1800 FRONIUS (1800 376 468)
560
Insulation fault — low DC isolation resistance detected
›
→ Isolate DC strings one at a time to find the faulty string; inspect panels and DC cables for damage
567
Neutral fault — neutral connection issue detected
›
→ Check neutral connection at AC terminal block and confirm neutral at switchboard is correctly terminated
